Diamond in the Rough (poem)

diamond in the rough photo: Diamond in the rough diamondintherough.jpg

I am multifaceted like a diamond,

You see one part of me and become mesmerized,

by the shimmer.

Leaving you hypnotized;

but open your eyes,

look beyond the glimmer.

There are many dimensions

to a jewel.

Illusions of love and grandeur,

do not be fooled.

You can not love what you don’t know.

A diamond is not just for show.

It takes time to explore this diamond

in the rough.

When you think you know me,

you haven’t searched enough.

~I wrote this a few birthdays ago; diamond is my birthstone.
