Becoming Butterflies

“Caterpillars who curl up inside darkness, do not simply grow wings. Their metamorphosis first turns them into a primordial liquid. They dissolve completely and are reassembled to emerge as butterflies. This is how it goes for many of us before the dawn breaks in our own lives and we can emerge as transformed people. We are disintegrated. We experience darkness so all -consuming that we fear we may never see the light of day again. But we will. I am living proof of it.”
